Social Media For Business
Everyone knows that social media marketing is a big deal in the modern marketing climate. But what you might not know is just how important social media is, 79% of Australians are on social media and 60 percent of consumers believe that social media marketing is an important customer service tool. In short, not only do people use social media, but they rely on it to get answers and make purchases.
While the social media landscape may be a little intimidating at first, the good news is that you can launch your social media marketing quickly and easily. It just takes a few simple steps to get started.
Step 1: Figure Out What You Want
What do you want your social media to do for you? Social media can help you attract new customers and stay in touch with your current audience. But it can do so much more than that. You can provide simple updates about your company’s upcoming promotions, and you can also create content that educates consumers so that they’ll make a more informed choice. You can even run contests designed to get your followers involved. But when you’re starting out, you can’t do all of this at once. It’s best to pick one or two short-term goals to help you get the ball rolling.
Step 2: Find Your Platform
It’s not uncommon for businesses to feel pressure to maintain several social media accounts in the early going. This, they feel, is what constitutes social media marketing success. In reality, this sentiment simply isn’t true. Your only job is to pick the platform that most closely resonates with your goals and the desires of your audience. If you’re making videos, focus on YouTube. If you’re dealing mainly in pictures, Instagram is probably for you. If you want to do a little bit of everything, or if you’re not sure where to start, go with Facebook. You’ll soon identify your social media niche, allowing you to hone in on what works while eliminating what doesn’t.
Step 3: Start Slow
You don’t need to fill your social media accounts with content right away. While it’s true that you’re starting with nothing and you need content in order to get noticed, you also don’t want to flood the feeds of your followers, many of whom will immediately be turned off and may decide to unfollow you. Instead, try to make one or two quality posts per day. No fluff, no filler – just good content that your followers will be likely to enjoy and, more importantly, share with others.
As you become more familiar with social media, you’ll notice certain days and times at which posts receive more engagement. You’ll also see that certain types of posts are more popular than others. Take note of these trends, and apply them to your social media strategy as you go. Before long, you’ll have a solid social media marketing plan that drives followers to your site while keeping your customers happy and engaged.
