First impressions count with Instagram You have a split second to grab someone’s attention so a well-designed bio is important.
Instagram gives you a 150 character limit so it’s essential to be succinct and convey the essence of your brand. Try to include a call-to-action if it works for your business.
Before you start, ensure your Instagram account is set to a business account and you will need to connect your Instagram account to your Facebook Business Page. Here’s Instagram’s guide to setting up a business account.
Here are a few pointers to get you started on creating a winning Instagram business bio.
What does your business do?
Describe what you do. This should be a short, catchy tagline summarising your business
What makes your brand unique
Tell people what makes your brand special. It could be your eco philosophy, your customer service or ethical manufacturing. Think about what factors set you apart from your competitors.
Use emojis to break up your text and show off your brand’s personality.
Share the love
Give something to your followers Add a call-to-action offering followers something of value via the link in your bio. This might be a discount, a free ebook, a recipe – whatever works for your business.
PRO TIP: Multiple Links in your bio
Take out a free subscription to Linktree. Linktree allows you to bypass Instagram’s one link limit. This is invaluable when using your Instagram feed for promotion and want to direct followers to various links on your website. By using linktree you don’t have to change the link in the bio every time you use a new call-to-action in your feed.
If you have a business hashtag use this in your bio as a call to action for followers share brand-related content.
A great example of this is MVMT watches. They use the hashtag #jointhemvmt to share content.
Add line breaks to your bio to make it easier to read. You can’t do it in the Instagram app, however you can use this simple website to add your line breaks.
